River's Edge Bible Church
River's Edge Bible Church Missions Conference
PRINCE GEORGE - Many church-goers in America take for granted the ease with which they can assemble at the church of their choice - but members of a small Presbyterian church in Prince George County know that privilege is special.
Each year River's Edge Bible Church hosts their annual Mission's Conference to remind themselves - and others - that in some countries there are still those who haven't read a Bible or are forbidden to gather to worship the God told of within its pages. In the 2000-plus years since Jesus told his disciples to "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15), there are still disciples going into small villages and large towns to tell people about God's Holy Word.
This year's theme, "Missions: Wherever, Whoever, Whenever," brought several speakers to the church at 11311 James River Drive (Route 10) to share how they and others are continuing to spread the gospel, both overseas and in the Tri-Cities area. The conference was held March 14-17.
The keynote speakers were Mr. Andy Mull and Mr. Ralph Carrell. Other guest speakers at this year's conference were our own Robert Luck who is involved in the Jail Ministry at the Crater Juvenile Detention Center and Miss Katie Huffman who will be going to Ireland with Teen Mission. We also heard from Mrs. Marty Reed, principal of West End Christian School and Steve Battaglia of Proclaim & Train, International gave an exciting report of what God is doing in that ministry. Following the Sunday morning service a luncheon was held and everyone had a great time. On Wednesday at 6p.m. prior to the service a dinner was served.
